This case was a full mouth reconstruction which entails determining his proper bite position as this patient suffered from TMJ issues and migraine headaches as well as facial muscle soreness and neck and shoulder pain. When there is an imbalance in the bite, the teeth and muscles and TMJ suffer. I f you look closely, you can see the chipping and wear of the teeth as well as the cant in the upper teeth, caused by severe grinding due to a bad bite.
After wearing an appliance (orthotic splint) for several months where we adjusted and tested the bite using computerized tracking and his EMG’s to verify comfort, we were able to restore his teeth in the proper physiologic position using EMAX crowns. As you can see from the final result, his smile looks great and the cant is eliminated.
